We really laid into the coyotes today. We were calling them in left and right. There's no beating Montana.

Lauren's Creek

This is another valley just north of our camp that we hunted. 

Peterson Basin

This is the valley we did the majority of our elk hunting in. The first two days of hunting, we saw over 200 head of elk. Then more and more hunters moved in and spoiled the ground.

Kris' Elk

Kris shot this small 6 within an hour of opening day. We called the bull in and Kris got the shot from 10 yards. It's awesome to hear these guys bugle and watch them come in. Really exciting stuff.

There was still snow on the mountain. This piece covered a part of the trail.

Cedar Lake

This was our final destination, Cedar Lake. Each time we got up here, a big storm would roll in and force us back down. 

Base Camp

This is a pic from our base camp. We saw lots of elk and mountain goats here. Saw lots of grizzly bear sign too but weren't lucky enough to bump into one. The water from the fall is from the lake we fished. The hike to the lake was about an hour from this point.

On the trail

It was a 6 hour horseback ride up to our campsite. This was a pic I took about 2 hours into the ride.
